(Halfling- Fighter/Thief, ‘Official’ P.C. Background)
Learning late in life that his ‘tall-tales’ were after all, somewhat true & that Jack Nightshade is in fact descended from gentry. (The Nightshades are distant relations to the Feathertoe clan) Jack, like most living Halflings, was born 3 or more generations after the ‘fall’ of the Seven Shires & collapse of Halfling cultural autonomity during the long bloody years of Thraxian westward expansion.
Ever a troubadour, a malcontent & now a penniless adventurer & highwayman of sorts, Jack has no qualms towards brokering his name to mislead, levy loans, or even extortions for information & more as he finances his personal devices in the cause for the; “Reinstatement of an independent Halfling State”. Which (only as a coincidental by-product) will yield a better than fair chance that Jack himself (being the only living Nightshade he’s ever heard tell of,) stands to inherit; title, property or perhaps both. Jack is an escaped convict & a known agitator against “the lawful stewardship of Thrax, her laws & her representatives”.
His roguish appetites now fueled by a “higher cause”, Jack ceases smuggling liquor & prostitutes to Halfling ‘freedom fighters’ (“Agitators”) & begins smuggling weapons, information & his” services” as adventurer, mercenary & spy.
